woops

I guees I havent been updating this very much so if anyone actually follows this anymore, I am very sorry.

I am in the mists of a moderately turbulent thunderstorm. I dont like thunder much. I have a bunch of photos up that im going to be using for my final portfolio. Most of them wont make much sense without knowing the requirements of each photo. Im kind of lazy and im not going to post them individually, instead im going to post a link to my photobucket link. Here you go

Some of them might not be used but enjoy. Oh and there are photos from years ago if you poke far enough into that album, in case that wasnt clear.

Also.. part of why i havent been updating this, is I have to start putting smaller images on this blog or it gets really slow.. and thats kind of a pain as well.. im very lazy when im not very busy..

Thing are going pretty well. Im not eating as healthily and im not being as economic because im always out and doing something for school and i just never have time to cook now days. Im sure most people know how that goes. Cooking for yourself is kind of lonely for me as well.. so i get tempted not to do it as much anymore.

Once again, im sorry i didnt update this in so long!

Spring

Im not sick any more, and my car is LEGAL and is finished getting work done. I dont have to avoid police anymore! i've been hard at work this month to finish assignments, I'll upload some of the latest by the end of the week (they're due friday morning) and then i'll be on spring break! Where might you ask am i going? Im going to the sunny town of.... turners falls. Nope im not going anywhere so feel free to come and visit. The snow just melted and the town is wonderful. I think i had a heavy dosing of S.A.D. the seasonal affective disorder that a lot of people get in winter. Im gettings lots more sun now and its very very nice. It rains instead of snows, i dont have to risk my life on a daily basis and i can walk outside in a t shirt! Spring is here! It was 60 outside today. Well thats all i have for now. Hope all is well for everyone else.

Car stuff

Looks like I might be able to get away with fixing everything!

So, list of things that were actually wrong with it:

There was a fan blade missing on my engine fan causing the engine to run rough.
Just about everything in the front ball-joint assembly needs to be replaced.
One or more calipers for the rear brakes are stuck closed.
Back brake pads need to be replaced, front ones can wait a while.
Emergency brake.
Theres a disc that connects the transmission to the drive shaft that has been loose and wears down on stuff, makes vibrations at higher speeds.
Alignment.
Tires are getting worn because of the bad alignment.

Without tires, im looking at about $1800 and the car will run exponentially better in all areas. with tires, probably about $2000. I'm feeling a little bit scammed by paying $3000 to get the car right about now when the blue book is $3200. Especially when the main reason that I was getting this particular one was because of all the paperwork from two months prior that said all the suspension was all in tip top shape. Legally I should have taken action with the lemon law for this state, but the guy i bought it off of was in a worse situation that i was, so even if i did try and get my money back, it'd take months and i might not end up with anything. Im happy with the car, i was happy before i had to pay all of this. Eh, thats life i guess. I can always sell it for bluebook value now.

128

128 days until this program is over. My car has been piling up issues, I can only hope to fix the more vital ones.

First on my list to fix is to get new brake pads.
Second is to fix all the things to pass safety inspection;
The ball-joints (possibly just the bushings) and the emergency break.
I plan ignoring all the other issues for as long as i can. The other issues are that my check engine light came on and theres a slight knock that just started. It also sounds like theres a hole in my exhaust which is a recent sound and my transmission just started making sound this month when the clutch is engaged. I plan on just turning the volume up on the radio until I can address it.

Other than that, my assignments are going alright. Its harder to get up in the morning because im not all that happy to be here anymore, which is interesting because im getting the best pictures I've taken since I've been here. I don't have all to many people that I talk to here at Hallmark, but I have a bunch of friends at Smith, 30 mins down the road. I kind of makes me think that its not me just being not being as social. There is something about the people who go to hallmark. They dont really seem to like to talk to people all that much, or have fun that doesnt involve drinking.

The only classes that they're offering now are digital and business classes. They've finnished all the photo classes. Its hard to just sit through them for me with my background. A lot of it is stuff that I learned over half a decade ago and have used it every day since. They kicked about 15 people out this month for bad grades, there were only 200 to begin with. Anyone that doesnt pass this next final thats due in a week wont be staying for the rest of the 128 days.. And by pass, I mean 75% or better.

Well thats whats up in my life.

Pictures!

Hello, I'm sorry its been so long since I've put stuff up here, its just been a little busy.
So, now I have a ton of images to show too.

First, here are some images from over winter break:

This was a couple that I saw at dog beach.

This is a guy named Eddie.

This is a semi-candid shot of Jessie and Dan. The kind where they obviously know you're taking a picture, but there aren't any instructions on what to do.. I guess that's actually how most people take pictures huh.. its hard to think about that after doing things 'the hallmark way'

This is Ocean Beach as a really random fog rolled in. San Diego was trying so hard to have a winter..

This is Jessie being... Herself.. aka weird.

These are my dad, my uncle and his girlfriend, in that order.

This is a back-lit picture of Dan. His face is a little too dark for my liking, but its still kind of neat.

This is a Posed shot of Jessie. It is window lit, it was shot in semi-low light during the fog. I think it would have been better if her hair was only in front on one side, but I think it is more realistic to her personality.

So far, all but one of the pictures from above were shot with the Olympus E-3. The Olympus E-3 is about $1000-2500 depending on where you get it and what type of lens you get with it. I enjoyed using the camera so much, that I want that camera over the canon 5d mark2 as well as any Nikon out there at the moment (but i would still take a canon 1ds mark3 over it). The only thing that I didn't like about it was the noise levels in low light situations. That was something canon and nikon still have domain over.

The one other picture above, that was not taken with the Olympus, was taken with the Mamiya AFD645ii with the Leaf Aptus 22 digital-back. Together the accumulated pricing is about $15,000-20,000 depending on where, and if used or not.

If you can tell me which one was taken with the more expensive camera you get a hug.

Thats not to say that the expensive camera is only as good as every other camera, it just has its place, and candid or quick pictures are not its place. Nor is any type of lighting that is not in a studio. Its a great camera for studio quality images, but its terrible for any and everything else.

That said, here are some expensive studio pictures.

Well, thats all for now, theres still some more images online on my photobucket if that wasnt enough for you.

Back in Massachusetts after winter break.

Well, my break was fun and eye opening. When I finally got back to Turners Falls, I slept. I slept hard enough not to know that it rained overnight. In the morning I slipped on ice and tried to get up and slipped another three times hitting various body parts. Nothing too bad, just a bruise on my elbow. Not quite like San Diego. Well, I hope to post on this more frequently. I have a bunch of stuff due this Friday, but nothing all that difficult. I have a self portrait, a window-lit portrait (with a non-hallmark student) and a couple things in the studio. I have more due next week including some letter head and business card designs, and then this 'phase' is over. I will have more images soon.
